High Content Screening microscopes
Leica TCS SP5II HCS A confocal, room 5333.2
This microscope is equipped with a motorized scanning stage and the Leica Matrix software for controlling it. It can be used for medium-sized screening projects where it is necessary to collect data from a regular sample geometry such as a well plate or an array of microdots. In addition to this, it can be used for regular confocal imaging, provided that the objectives and lasers (see below) are suitable for the task. The system has two very sensitive HyD detectors additionally to three normal PMTs for fluorescence and one for transmitted light.
When designing an experiment, it is important to check that the sample format is suitable for the microscope.
For example, it must be verified that the thickness of the plate bottom is compatible with the working distance of the objective(s) considered.

Another thing to consider is when you want to use the immersion objectives, the physical size of the 63x objective and the water cup of the immersion system will limit the area that can be imaged. For example, from a 96-well plate, two rows from top and bottom, and one column from left and right, are inaccessible.
The training needed for the Matrix software depends on the application. For the reasons mentioned above, it is best to contact the staff well in advance to make sure that format and setup works. In the ideal case, you should bring a plate with sample to the training session, so we can together verify the limitations and design a scanning template that you can use in your subsequent sessions.

a cell imaging system
Cellomics CellInsight is a compact plate reader that comes equipped with a broad range of ready-made image analysis protocols. Image analysis is performed either during scanning, or later on (disk-based rescan). The analysis software is available on the instrument PC and on the 2D workstation.
CellInsight is fairly easy to use, so the training does not take very long. More important is that we make sure that your assay works. Firstly, we must discuss the biology and see which set of dyes is the best for your problem. Secondly, we must check that the image analysis works on your sample.
CellInsight accepts most well-plate types, and it is possible to design custom sample geometries for example for sample micro arrays. As there is no CO2 chamber or heating, the system not intended for live cell work.

a continuous cell culturing platforms
The Cell-IQ is a continuous cell culturing platform for cell lines, primary cells, co-cultures and monolayer tissue models. It identifies, visualizes and records in real time all changes in morphology and physiology down to the single cell during an incubation and translates the images into graphical outputs. We have two units, the left one with three color fluorescence option and other one only with the phase contrast imaging.
