"Bioinformatics: from molecular mechanisms
to functional systems", 17 - 23 January 2005, Finland

Registration Closed

The Centre for International Mobility CIMO invites applications from Russian and Ukrainian post graduate students for participation in the 9th Winter School organized on 17-23 January 2005 in Finland in cooperation with the Systems Biology and Bioinformatics Research Programme of the Academy of Finland.

A group of 8-12 graduate students from GSBM is invited to participate the Winter School. Please contact Erkki Raulo ASAP (by September 30th) if you are interested. If you have no prior education on Bioinformatics you may wish to attend Bioinformatics I - GSBM-course in December.

The goal of the Winter School is to enhance the mobility of young researchers and post graduate students between Finland and the participating countries, increase the cooperation of the universities and offer further opportunities for the participants of the Winter School to join Finnish research teams. The 9th CIMO Winter School is purposefully designed multidisciplinary - not for a particular, narrow field of science, but rather for a scientific topic. This time, the topic chosen focuses on bioinformatics and systems biology in the broad sense of the terms. Applications from all related fields, such as medicine, physiology, biology and psychology are welcome as well. The school tends to stimulate active participation and discussion. The untraditional working method is especially developed for the Winter School and it aims at enhancing the strength of all participants' own personal expertise, problem-solving capabilities and creative mind. Some tentative themes of the days

  • general principles, concepts and definitions genomics and proteomics bioinformatics genes, proteins and diseases neuroscience
  • systems biology
