15 Early-Stage Researcher (ESR) positions for 3-year structured PhD projects are offered by a consortium of 11 participants in the Marie Skloodowska-Curie Actions ITN project “SECRETERS”. PhD positions in Computational Neuroscience Group at Tampere University. Tampere University is a Finnish university that was established on January 1st, 2019, as a merger between the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology. The Computational Neuroscience Group is part of the interdisciplinary Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology and is positioned to bridge the gap between traditional neurobiology, computational and theoretical neuroscience, neuroinformatics and neuroengineering. We are looking for PhD candidates with a strong motivation to understand the nervous system through combined experimental and computational investigation. Early stage graduate student positions on state-of-the-art infection research at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki, Finland. Two positions available at the Faculty of Medicine to study the role of microbes and microbial infections in blood malignancies. The group of Prof. Outi Mäkitie is seeking a motivated Ph.D. student for the genetics of osteoporosis and rare bone disease projects at the Folkhälsan Research Center and Research Program for Clinical and Molecular Metabolism, University of Helsinki, located in Biomedicum. Our lab specializes in clinical and genetic characteristics of bone metabolic diseases, cellular and molecular mechanisms of these diseases, are developing new methods to understand these processes. The deadline for applications is on March 31, 2019.

Open position for a PhD student or a post-doc in an exciting project on early human embryo development at the University of Helsinki. A successful candidate has MSc degree in bioinformatics, computer science, or related field, has theoretical expertise in big data management and analysis, and knows R, Python, C, or Java programming languages as well as biostatistics.
